Getting Started

What is Adobe Photoshop Showcase?
Adobe Photoshop Showcase is an online community for storing, viewing and sharing your Photoshop Elements media assets online with family and friends. Adobe Photoshop Showcase allows you to share photos, videos, and unlike any other online service, custom Web Photo galleries (created within Photoshop Elements 5.0). Adobe Photoshop Showcase integrates seamlessly with Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 to allow users to make their media assets available to their personal contacts or to the entire Photoshop Showcase community.

Creating an Adobe Photoshop Showcase Account
There are several ways you can create a Adobe Photoshop Showcase account, including:

As an Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 user
If you are an Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 user, you will be prompted to create a FREE Adobe Photoshop Showcase account the first time you share your media assets online. Signup is very quick, easy, and painless.

As a Guest to the Adobe Photoshop Showcase site
You can create a free account as a guest to the Adobe Photoshop Showcase site. Click here to signup. Because uploading is done through Photoshop Elements 5.0, you won’t be able to publish your creations online, but you can enjoy the benefits of membership as well as comment on the various galleries of other Photoshop Showcase members.

Sharing Your Media
Great art is meant to be shared with the world, and Adobe Photoshop Showcase helps you share yours by inviting others to view your galleries. You can select contacts from your Address Book with whom to share your media or enter their email addresses manually. You can even track their responses to your invitations and resend the invitation if you desire.

Signing into Adobe Photoshop Showcase
You can sign into Adobe Photoshop Showcase directly via its Internet home page, or through the process of sharing media assets using Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0.

How do I upload my media?
You can only upload media to Adobe Photoshop Showcase using Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 and later versions. However, you can download a free trial version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 to try the program before you purchase it.

Viewing Media

My Galleries
All your media assets uploaded from Photoshop Elements are included in your 'My Galleries' view. Within My Galleries, members can filter contents by media type and sort in multiple ways.

Filter your media assets by the following criteria:

View All
Displays all your media assets.

Photos
Displays only your photo assets.

Galleries
Displays only your custom Web photo gallery assets.

Video
Displays only your video assets.

Sort your media assets using the following criteria:

Creation Date (ascending)
Displays your assets with the earliest created assets presented first.

Creation Date (descending)
Displays your assets with the most recently created assets presented first.

Name (ascending)
Displays your assets in alphabetical order (from A to Z).

Name (descending)
Displays your assets in reverse alphabetical order (from Z to A).

Views (ascending)
Displays your assets with the least frequently viewed assets presented first.

Views (descending)
Displays your assets with the most frequently viewed assets presented first.

Public Galleries
Public galleries are composed of the media galleries others chose to share with the overall Adobe Photoshop Showcase community. All visitors may view, rate, comment (login required) upon these galleries and contact a gallery’s owner. Public Galleries are viewable in three different classifications:

Top Rated
Do you only want to see the best of the best? The "Top Rated" view displays galleries with the most highly rated galleries presented first.

Most Recent
Want to keep abreast of the newest additions to the Adobe Photoshop Showcase community? The ‘Most Recent’ view displays galleries with the newest created galleries presented first.

Most Visited
Want to see to which galleries people are flocking to most? The "Most Visited" view displays galleries with the most viewed galleries starting with the highest visited gallery first.

Within the Public Galleries, users can select to see the Top Rated and Most Visited for various time increments (This Week, This Month, All Time)

History
Adobe Photoshop Showcase enables you to trace your steps with the History view, which displays the galleries you visited in descending order starting with the gallery you most recently visited. History is a true browsing log, presenting all the recent galleries (yours, others, public, private) that YOU visited. Like My Galleries and Public Galleries, filters enable the History page to restrict the view to specific media types:

View All
Displays all your media assets.

Photos
Displays only your photo assets.

Galleries
Displays only your custom Web photo gallery assets

Video
Displays only your video assets.

Viewing Gallery pages
The contents of a gallery (private or public) are viewable by selecting on the thumbnail image of the desired gallery. Upon selecting the smaller image, Photoshop Showcase opens the detail view page where the full gallery is viewed. Galleries of photos or videos are presented in a page that allows a visitor to proceed file by file through the gallery or to automatically paginate through each asset (a feature called ‘AutoPlay’). Also on the detail view page are areas for commenting and viewing comments, rating the gallery and (for gallery owners or visitors of public galleries) sharing the gallery. Users can quickly view more media assets by the creator by simply selecting on the “See more from {Name}” link at the top of the image or act on the image and gallery in other ways. In short, all user and visitor interaction with galleries and media assets occurs at the detail view page.

Viewing custom Web photo galleries opens a fully interactive, multimedia experience for the user, providing various options to the end user to “continue” to the detail view page, and namely comment, rate or share (if enabled) the custom Web photo gallery.

How do I report offensive galleries?
Click the ‘Report Gallery’ link within the Gallery view and Adobe Photoshop Showcase will promptly investigate the issue in accordance with our Terms and Policies.

Setting Up and Updating Your Account

How do I upload media from a computer?
To preserve the integration between the desktop and the Web, uploading to Adobe Photoshop Showcase is ONLY available from within Adobe Photoshop 5.0. Click here to purchase the latest version of Photoshop Elements or download a free trial version from Adobe. From within the Photoshop Elements Organizer window, the user selects the media assets for uploading, selects on the Share menu option and follows the step by step process. Photoshop Elements’ new custom photo gallery functionality (Web photo galleries, interactive galleries, animated galleries and map galleries) can be uploaded directly from the ‘Creations’ menu.

NOTE: Photoshop Showcase is the ONLY online service available that supports the new custom web photo galleries in Photoshop Elements. TO ENABLE A USER TO VIEW A PREVIOUSLY SAVED CUSTOM WEB PHOTO GALLERY, PHOTOSHOP SHOWCASE HIGHLY RECOMMENDS THE NEW GALLERY BE SHARED AND UPLOADED TO PHOTOSHOP SHOWCASE; ACCESSING THE SAVED CUSTOM GALLERY MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT SAVING IT TO THE ONLINE SERVICE.

Uploading media from Photoshop Elements 5.0 to Photoshop Showcase requires that the user select only one media type (photos, videos or custom galleries). Multiple photos and videos can be uploaded in a single upload/sharing process (from Photoshop Elements 5.0 and up), only one custom photo gallery can be uploaded at a time.

Upload limits imposed by Photoshop Elements or Adobe Photoshop Showcase include:
Photos – up to 100 photos in a single upload, maximum of 100 MB per photo
Videos – up to 100 videos in a single upload, maximum of 100 MB per video
Custom (Web photo) Galleries – no file size limitation, maximum of 100 MB for any single photo/video file that is part of the custom gallery

NOTE: Certain account plans set limitations on file hosting and allowable storage. AT NO TIME SHOULD UPLOADING BE RESTRICTED OR PREVENTED.

Why do custom Web photo galleries upload more files than I have selected?
Photoshop Elements incorporates Flash technology in creating the interactive experience for the visitor. To make a custom photo gallery, multiple files are automatically included in addition to the images selected. These additional files consist of the templates, animation, image layout definition and other information necessary to create the full user experience. The upload status window (within the CSP) is providing feedback to the user on all files uploaded to Photoshop Showcase – the images as well as the extra files integrated during the creative process.

How do I create a gallery?
Galleries are created automatically at the time your media assets are shared and uploaded from Photoshop Elements. Gallery names are autogenerated based on date and time of upload if the user chooses NOT to enter a name within the “Name Your Gallery” field on the Start CSP.

How do I delete a gallery or individual media asset?
Management of the galleries and media assets is performed within the Settings page by selecting the ‘Settings’ option at the top of the viewable image on the ‘detail asset view’ page. From within the Settings page, a user can select ‘Delete’ from the page navigation at the bottom right of the page to delete the complete gallery from the account.

NOTE: It is not currently possible to change a gallery by adding, deleting or modifying the individual photos or videos. Should the user desire to add images to an existing gallery or modify the images, changes can be completed within Photoshop Elements and the gallery re-uploaded with the updated content.

Why are images resized upon upload?
As a sharing and viewing service, Photoshop Showcase resizes images from their original resolution, while preserving the aspect ratio, to optimize upload performance and on-screen viewing. As features and services are added that require higher resolution images, Photoshop Showcase will expand the upload process to include multiple resolutions.

How do I add email addresses to my Address Book?
Contacts for sending private invitations can be added to your Address Book from within My Account>Address Book. Once “Add Contact” is selected (below the set of contacts currently within your Address Book), Photoshop Showcase presents fields for the name of the contact and the email address. Enter information into these fields and SAVE your changes to add the contact to your Address Book. Adding contacts to your Address Book does NOT update the Photoshop Elements Contact Book.

In addition to adding individual contacts, users can import the email addresses that are currently within the Photoshop Elements Contact Book during the sharing of media by selecting “Import Addresses” from the Invite CSP.

What is ‘My Account’?
My Account is the destination for updating your account information including, passwords, account email, gallery privacy settings, premium account plans and invitation tracking.

Forgot your password?
Click this link and you will be taken to a page where you can enter the email address associated with your account to have your password sent to the email address associated with the account.

Changing your password and other personal information
Upon logging in to Photoshop Showcase, navigate to the My Account pages. From here, you can change your password, email address and other personal information. Changes are implemented immediately and thus, the new login information will be needed the next time the user logs in. Additionally, the invitation history (‘Invitations’ from the top navigation) does NOT transfer to the new email address as the invitation history can only be associated with a single email address.

Will Adobe Photoshop Showcase always be free?
There will always be a free version of Adobe Photoshop Showcase. Users with a large amount of media assets or a need to leverage services from various Photoshop Showcase can choose from two premium membership plans. Click here for more details on upgrading your account.

How do I turn off advertising?
Photoshop Showcase is an ad-supported Web site, providing free sharing, hosting and community features in exchange for advertiser placement. An advertising-free experience is provided to subscribers of the Photoshop Showcase premium services. Click here for more details on upgrading your account and engaging with an advertising-free experience.

Sharing and Managing your Media

Inviting and sharing with others
With Adobe Photoshop Showcase it’s easy to invite friends and family to view your galleries, or share with them great public galleries you’ve found. Each gallery gives you the option of selecting contacts from your address book (or typing in their information) and sending them either a personal message or a pre-written message asking them to view the gallery. From the Web site, private galleries can ONLY be shared by the account owner (i.e. the member that uploaded the gallery). Public galleries are open to sharing by all members and guests.

NOTE: Adobe Photoshop Showcase does not control email settings, so it is possible for an invitee to forward your invitation to others whom you may not wish to view your pictures.

Why can’t I share a ‘custom Web photo gallery’ after saving it to my hard drive?
Within Photoshop Elements, users that create a custom Web photo gallery have multiple options for storing the new creation. As long as the custom gallery remains in the Organizer window, users can share and upload to Photoshop Showcase. Should the custom gallery be saved to the hard drive and removed from the Organizer window, Photoshop Elements can not retrieve the gallery and re-add to the organizer.

Public and Private settings
You can choose to share your media assets with only a select group of family and friends or with the entire Photoshop Showcase community. You can change the settings of each individual gallery to designate it public or private, or you can choose to make all your galleries public or private.

Address Book
Store all your contacts in your Address Book and quickly send them invitations to view your galleries and public galleries you wish to share with them, whether you are sharing through the CSPs in Photoshop Elements or directly from Photoshop Showcase.

Will my media assets ever be deleted?
Adobe Photoshop Showcase does not permit offensive or illegal content to be stored on our network and reserves the right to delete any questionable content from our servers, in accordance to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Within these policies, you also attest that you are the authorized, legal owner of the copyright to the media. Should the Adobe Photoshop Showcase team discovery situations to the contrary, we will take appropriate action.

For all other content that is used in accordance with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, there is no duration limit imposed on members using the service.

How are assets that are reported as inappropriate handled?
Since art is very subjective we will endeavor to work with you to resolve the issue. However, we reserve the right to act in accordance with our site policies concerning inappropriate media assets.
